North Ferriby United’s hopes of reaching the Vanarama Conference North play-offs remain in the balance after a goal-less draw with fellow top five hopefuls Tamworth.

Andy Morrell’s third-placed side Tamworth will be more happier side with the point as they finished the game with ten men after Brendon Daniels was sent off.

Both defences were on top and chances were limited during the first half at Church Street.

The game did liven-up in the second half. Dave Hibbert carved out of the best opportunities of the game as Ferriby goalkeeper Adam Nicklin made an excellent save with his legs.

Daniels made his early departure with 15 minutes after receiving a straight red card for a comment made to referee Tom Nield.

Ferriby pressed for the winner with Ryan Kendall and Nathan Jarman going close.

Danny Hone had a header cleared off-the-line and then in added time, Danny Clarke saw his goal-bound effort turned around the post by Tamworth stopper James Belshaw.

North Ferriby United manager Billy Heath:

“It was a good performance against a side that is in a good run of form. Tamworth are well-organised and difficult to break down. We defended well and kept another clean sheet which is always pleasing.
“We picked-up no injuries which is good news with next week’s FA Trophy semi-final at Bath coming up.”
