Martin Thacker says Hall Road Rangers will take not take the defensive route in the East Riding Senior Cup semi-final tie with Hull City U21s tomorrow.

Hall Road, who last won the competition in 1994, are hoping to reach their first final since 2011.
The game is being played at Bishop Burton College with a 7pm kick off.

It will be tough against a professional side and Thacker said: “We have to go into the game wanting to win.

“Playing City with our young kids against their young kids will set them a goal for where they need to be, because the dream never ends. I’m 35 and I still dream of being a professional.

“They can test themselves against their elite, and it will give us a vital opportunity on a decent pitch to see who’s the ballers and who’s the fighters.”

The East Riding Senior Cup has proven to be extremely popular among local sides in the area, as it gives them a fantastic opportunity to pick up some silverware, especially because Hull City and North Ferriby (the two biggest sides in the competition) field their reserves sides.

Thacker said: “The East Riding Cup is massive for local teams like us, I’ve won it a few times I’ve been there as a manager and a player, and for the lads to actually play at the KC, there’s no better feeling.”
