Paul Lines says togetherness has been a key factor in Nostell Miners Welfare’s revival

Togetherness has been the main factor behind Nostell Miners Welfare’s revival, according to Paul Lines.

The narrow 3-1 defeat to title-chasing Shaw Lane Aquaforce brought a three-match winning run to an end.

One of those victories was a Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup game, but most importantly the other two were Toolstation NCEL Premier Division games.

Those six points lifted them off-the-foot of the table and Lines said: “The togetherness, the shape of the side and the camaraderie running through the side, I can’t replace it.

“We have just clicked and we have been waiting for it to click over the last three or four weeks.

“They are not coming here for mega money. They are coming to play with their mates and the togetherness and camaraderie is fantastic.

“We have been getting them in 12.30pm for a pre-match meal and a game of snooker and that’s all part of getting a togetherness.

“We have got something and we need to build on it.”

Nostell are due to host Pickering Town tomorrow night and Tony Doran and Wayne Ball are set to miss the game.

Lines does have Joe O’Neill and Lee Turner available for selection. O’Neil, who plays for Ossett Town, is available to Lines for midweek games.

He has the same arrangement with former Wakefield and Garforth player Lee Turner as the forward plays for Hunslet Club in the West Yorkshire League on a weekend.
