Farsley AFC’s boosted their own chances of reaching the Evo Stik Division One North play-offs by denting Warrington Town’s hopes in a 1-0 win at Throstle Nest.
Adam Priestley’s second half goal ensured Farsley extended their unbeaten run to five games.
Warrington dominated the first half and had an early chance when Scott Metcalfe saw Tom Taylor off his line and attempted an audacious lob. The young goalkeeper got back in time and tipped the ball over the crossbar.
Minutes later Metcalfe had another opportunity when the ball fell to him in the box and his close range effort was pushed to safety by Taylor.
Farsley improved in the second half. They were rewarded just after the hour mark when Aiden Savory’s chip was controlled and fired into the far corner by Adam Priestley.
A calamitous defensive error almost gifted Farsley a 2-0 lead as miscommunication saw James McCarten bundle the ball past his own onrushing keeper and onto the post before it was eventually cleared to safety.
Moments later a Kyle Hancock cross was blazed over by Farsley captain Robbie O’Brien, with the goal gaping.
As time ran out Priestley had a chance to wrap up the victory with a header which he put straight into the Warrington goalkeeper’s hands.
