Tadcaster boss Paul Marshall believes his club are still in the race for the title

Paul Marshall believes Tadcaster Albion still have a good chance of winning the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division title.

The gloom has lifted from the i2i Stadium following the shock FA Vase defeat to Highworth Town and Marshall is desperate to lead his team back to winning ways.

Tadcaster have lost two and drawn one of their last three league games which have enabled Worksop Town to take top spot and the driving seat.

Albion are eight points behind Worksop with two games in hand. They also have to host them on the last day of the season.

Marshall, whose side host Athersley Recreation tomorrow, said: “We’re very much so in the race with results this week.

“There is a lot more positivity around the place. With the result on Wednesday night (the West Riding County Cup exit to Bradford), people are going to think we are still struggling.

“I think we are going to take a massive lift from it.

“The Highworth game was the lowest game of my career because I felt it was a missed opportunity.

“Jimmy and Matt (Gore) have tried to help me over the last few weeks as I have been low, but I have got over it.

“I’m back at it and hopefully we can get a positive result on Saturday against Athersley and give everything else a run for their money.

“Every game is a cup final now, but if they go out with the same mentality and work rate as they did against Avenue then they’ll get results against most teams.”
