Hall Road Rangers chairman Darren Sunley has won praise from Martin Thacker
Hall Road Rangers manager Martin Thacker hailed the club’s “amazing turnaround” on and off the field since Darren Sunley took over as chairman in January 2014.
Thacker was reinstated as Hall Road manager last December and believes the ambition at the club can make them the thriving local side they once were.
Rangers have won three of their last four games, which have all been at their current home Dene Park.
Thacker’s men are not in action tomorrow and their next opponents are Shirebrook Town on 28th March, and he admitted the game will be a tougher test then their last four games.
He said: “We’re reaping the rewards of the fixtures now because we’ve got the home games.
“We should impose ourselves, the home games is where we’ve looked like we can win games.
“We’ve got some bigger teams coming up like Shirebrook, so we have to keep to that level and hopefully the quality will come through again.”
Thacker has already said he intends to make the Rangers new home of Haworth Park a “fortress” next season, and their home form at Dene Park will be something he intends to bring over next season.
He said: “We can’t wait, this is my club.
“I’ve worked here, played here, I’ve mowed the grass and done everything. For us to have a future we need to move away.
“Hall Road needs to stand on its own two feet. Next season will be brilliant, it’s going to be brilliant for the people who run the football club,
“The home form we’re having now needs to follow us to Haworth, I want to make it a fortress next season.”
Chairman Darren Sunley has already laid out his aspirations for the club following their move, and wants to return the club to their former glory.
Sunless said: “Within two years I want to be in the Premier Division and then beyond, and now we have the ground and people involved to achieve that.
“At Haworth Park we’ve done a lot of work down their already, and we’re going to engage the local community.
“We’ve got 16 teams from Under 8’s upwards, and I want all the managers and all the parents to feel like it’s a home, so I’d be disappointed if we weren’t getting 200 fans there next season.
“We want to be completely grassroots football.
“So it’s from the under 7’s upwards, and we want them to have the mentality to progress to play for the teams when they get older.
“The aim should be they want to be in the first team, and I hope it doesn’t stop there.
“It would be great if the likes of Ferriby could ask for one of our players I haven’t got an issue with that.”
