Steve Adams wants Parkgate to finish the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division campaign on a high note.
Parkgate, who host Nostell Miners Welfare tomorrow, have only five games left as they end the season two weeks earlier than the fixture calendar.
The Rotherham-based side look set to finish out of the bottom six and could still steal 12th place.
That would represent an excellent season and Adams told Non League Yorkshire: “Obviously winning three games on the bounce (before the 2-0 defeat to Shaw Lane) has helped us.
“We have to take the positives from the three victories we have had. Looking ahead to the end of the season, we should want to win two or three more games and finish as high as possible.
“Looking at the season as a whole, you always want to finish higher and do better, but we still have a very young squad and I think this season will do them the world of good.
“Disappointing we haven’t finished higher, but the aim was stay in this league and hopefully build for next season.
“We have never flirted with relegation. We have always kept our heads above water so from that point of view, the season has been a success.”
Adams, who was handed the manager’s job at Parkgate in June 2013, plans to carry on for a third campaign in the summer.
Despite limited resources, Adams has kept them afloat in the Premier Division.
Asked if he was staying at Parkgate, Adams added: “That’s the intention.
“We have put a good foundation in place for next season so it would be silly not to see it through.
“Hopefully the players will stick at it. We have some good young players with one or two experienced players who are going to be around.”
