Craig Elliott admits that two solid wins have given everyone at title contenders Shaw Lane Aquaforce a huge lift.
Elliott admitted last week that he was at his lowest ebb after two consecutive defeats in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.
However, despite losing goalkeeper Ben Gathercole early on, Aquaforce won at Heanor Town and then comfortably beat Parkgate in midweek.
Elliott, whose side travel to Retford tomorrow, said: “All teams go through little bad spells and we had ours and the key is how quickly you come out of them.
“Against Heanor when Ben went off I thought everything was going to go against us.
“We started pretty well against Heanor and when he got injured I thought ‘our luck is out here’.
“But we played really well and it probably as good as we have played in two months.
“It lifted the lads and it lifted me and we came into the Parkgate game knowing we needed to back it up which we did.”
Shaw Lane face a Retford United battling to stay in the Division under the new management of former Hallam chief Chris Sellars.
Elliott does have a few selection issues as Gathercole faces a race against time to get fit, while James Cotterill and Joe Thornton are banned because of their controversial red cards at Worksop Town two weeks ago.
Elliott said: “I know Retford have signed a few players and have got a new manager.
“It is difficult to judge, but I don’t take anyone lightly. Look at Liversedge coming to Shaw Lane and beating us.
“They are all difficult games now. Teams are fighting for points for different reasons so we have to make sure we keep our own house in order.
“We have a few injuries and a few suspensions looming so it is a testing time for us.”
