Nostell Miners Welfare will face Frickley Athletic in the final of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup next month.
Frickley won 2-0 at Handsworth Parramore last night to book their fourth consecutive appearance in the prestigious final which takes place at the New York Stadium on May 1st.
The Evo Stik Premier Division strugglers Frickley fielded an under-strength because of injuries, suspensions and unavailability. Regular goalkeeper Ben Simpson failed a fitness test, while Danny South and Chris Salt were not registered in time. Matty Bloor was injured and Luke Hinsley was suspended.
Bruno Holden forced a good save out of Frickley goalkeeper Sam Leigh, but Frickley had the majority of chances in the first half.
Frickley went in front when Gavin Allott’s low shot was deflected off Richard Adams in the 27th minute.
In extremely windy conditions, Frickley held their nerve despite pressure from Parramore.
Luke Jeffs sealed the win in the final minutes with a fortunate goal from a wind-assisted free kick.
