Nostell Miners Welfare’s quest to ensure their Toolstation NCEL Premier Division status for next season is the opening match of the 2015 Easter GroundHop weekend.
Nostell welcome struggling Retford United to Crofton tomorrow night as they aim to reach the safety line of 30 points in front of an expected bumper crowd.
A Nostell victory would leave Retford stranded in second bottom.
The match is the first eight games spread over three days as part of GroundHop Uk’s event which attracts hundreds of people from all over the country.
The ‘hop’ then moves on to East Yorkshire on Friday morning, starting off at Barton Town Old Boys’ local derby with Cleethorpes Town at 11.30.am.
Yorkshire Amateur’s trip to Winterton Rangers (ko 2.30pm) and Grimsby’s home game with Hall Road Rangers (ko 6.30pm) complete Friday’s line-up.
A long-awaited trip to AFC Emley for the groundhoppers kicks off on Saturday morning with the crucial local derby with Hemsworth Miners Welfare which has a 10.30am start.
Emley were meant to be part of the 2013 GroundHop weekend, but snow put pay to their fixture.
Emley have designed a special website to inform visitors what to expect upon their visit.
Saturday afternoon sees Parkgate entertain Staveley (ko 1.30pm), Shaw Lane Aquaforce welcome Heanor (ko 4.45pm) and promotion chasing Pontefract visit Penistone (7.30pm).
The games are great money-spinners for the clubs involved as well as a fantastic advertisement for the Northern Counties East League.
