AFC Emley manager Darren Hepworth wants to see the Welfare Ground rocking for one of the biggest games of the Toolstation NCEL Division One season tomorrow.
The famous village club are expecting their biggest attendance since their reformation ten years ago with over 500 people expected to attend their clash with promotion rivals Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
The match kicks off at 10.30am and is the first game of the final day of the NCEL Easter GroundHop which began last night at Nostell.
Hepworth, who joked that he would be getting to the ground for 7am to get a car park spot, hopes to see a busy Welfare Ground.
“I’m delighted the league have given us a game as part of the GroundHop,” said Hepworth, whose club were denied a GroundHop fixture in 2013 because of heavy snow.
“They have chosen a good fixture as the game at Hemsworth earlier in the season was a really good game.
“It is going to be a massive day for the club and I’m hoping we get a bumper gate, I really am.
“I know it is a 10.30 kick off, but people can come enjoy what I hope will be a cracking game which is set up to be.
“Hemsworth have a cracking young attacking side and we are too, even with Paul Sykes in it!
“There’s going to be a lot of excitement around the place and hopefully it will be buzzing.
“Without building the game up too much, it is just another game, but at another critical step for both teams.
“For me if we get a cracking gate and everyone enjoys a cracking game, hopefully people will come back.
“We’re using to handling big occasions from the Emley of old because there were big games with over 1000 here.
“It would be nice to get the Welfare Ground full again.”
Visitors to Emley tomorrow are advised to see Emley’s specially designed website which gives details on parking and other things relating to the game.
