Ossett Town’s Evo Stik Division One North clash with Radcliffe Borough was abandoned after a serious injury to the visitors’ debutant Reece Welsh.

The match was delayed by over an hour and half with five minutes to go as Walsh was taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle.

Ossett’s Sam Akeroyd was sent off for the challenge.

The scores were tied at 1-1 at the time.

Ossett captain Steven Jeff had given his side the lead in the tenth minute with a superb long range strike.

Akeroyd was denied twice by Radcliffe goalkeeper Chris Cheetham before Matthew Davies equalised for Radcliffe, who are still in relegation trouble.

The match will be replayed a week on Tuesday.

Ossett Town: Dixon, Lucas, Jeff, Armstrong, Cheeseman, Merris, Hepworth, Akeroyd, Curtis, Payne, Whiteley. Subs: Pashley, Binns, Exton, Backhouse, Atkinson.
Referee: Alix Pashley
