Craig Elliott believes Garforth Town will be very confident of pulling off an upset at Shaw Lane Aquaforce
Craig Elliott reckons Garforth Town will fancy their chances at Toolstation NCEL Premier Division title contenders Shaw Lane Aquaforce tomorrow night.
West Riding County Cup finalists Garforth will be hoping to add Aquaforce to their long list of midweek scalps on the road which includes Harrogate Town, Staveley Miners Welfare and Heanor Town.
The Miners also pulled off an impressive 1-1 at Worksop earlier this year.
Elliott said: “Garforth are a good team and everyone will acknowledge that.
“On their day they can beat anybody. They have a good manager who tactically gets things right.
“He sets them up well in the big games and let’s be honest, you don’t get to the West Riding County Cup if you’re not well-organised and you don’t the big games they have won.
“I think they will be really confident of getting a result. They have already drawn with us this year.
“They have a young team which is full of energy so I am expecting another difficult game.
“There are eight matches left so you can’t say ‘this is an easy game’ as they are all difficult.”
Joe Thornton and James Cotterill are back available for Shaw Lane after finishing their three-match suspensions on Saturday.
It does throw up a dilemma for Elliott, whose side have won five consecutive league games.
It is unclear whether the pair will feature, but Elliott has ruled out changing his team over fitness concerns.
“Rotation is definitely not the case and the players know that,” he said.
“I won’t be rotating. I told them ‘you play well, you keep your shirt’.
“Even with the games coming thick and fast I’m not rotating. Look at the Heanor game.
“Even though it was three days after the Athersley win, I didn’t bring anyone in.
“I kept the same team because I think it is important that we have the consistency so there will be no rotating.”
Jimmy Eyles is also expected to involved again after returning from a long lay-off through injury at Athersley Rec last week.
Elliott added: “It is brilliant having Jimmy back, but we do have to be careful with him.
“He got half-an-hour at Athersley and ten minutes on Saturday, but it is like a new signing.
“He’s nowhere near ready to start a game, but to come on and do bits and bats, it is brilliant for us.”
Shaw Lane have also brought forward their home game against Maltby Main on Saturday to Friday night.
