David Brown continued his recent surge in form with a double in Tadcaster Albion’s 5-0 thrashing of Armthorpe Welfare.
The victory keeps Tadcaster lurking in the shadows in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division title race.
Six more performances like this and Tadcaster will have a chance of winning the league if Shaw Lane Aquaforce or Worksop Town slip up.
Armthorpe will be glad to see the back of Tadcaster this season because along with last night, Paul Marshall’s men also annihilated them 10-0 back in November.
Calum Ward set the waggon rolling early on before George Bissett doubled the lead with a header after going close twice with long range attempts.
Armthorpe did have chances themselves as they hit the post, while also forcing a good save out of Tom Morgan alongside Paddy Miller goal-line clearance.
Armthorpe’s goalkeeper was left stranded for Brown’s first goal after half-time.
Liam Ormsby scored the fourth and then Brown added the gloss with the fifth in the 72nd minute.
Tadcaster Albion manager Paul Marshall on David Brown:
“To be fair he has bided his time until we brought him in on Saturday for his pace against his old team Garforth.
“He did really well against Garforth, he worked his socks off and great credit to him because he has been waiting fro his chance.
“He got a good goal on Saturday and he has stepped up with two more good goals tonight.
“He did really well tonight. He get caught offside a couple of times, but he’s got great pace and enthusiasm for the game which is good.”
