Whilst aiming to beat Harrogate Railway’s own records, Billy Miller does have one eye on next season.
Finishing above 12th in the Evo Stik Division One North would be the club’s highest ever finish.
Two wins and a draw in the final four games – starting with Radcliffe Borough tomorrow – would secure a record points total for their time in the Evo Stik.
Asked what achieving both aims would mean for the club, Miller said: “It would be absolutely phenomenal.
“We finished 13th last season with 49 points and now we’re on 62 points with four games to.
“That shows the quality of the top ten to 15 in the league this year.
“What we have to do is force our way into the top ten and to do that we have to keep winning.
“For us personally, can we get to 65 points? We’ll reassess then, but 70 is a realistic target now.
“Around about October when we started picking up the points and brought Matt Heath and Tom Goodwin in, we knew we were onto something.
“It is not surprise to us to find where we are, but 12 points to play for, let’s pick up as many as possible in those remaining games.”
Railway have had a brilliant season in Division One North. Railway came back from a poor start to reach the play-offs spots at Christmas on a well-publicised shoestring budget.
The hard task for Railway is replicating their achievements next season and Miller is already looking ahead.
“We have a target list of who we would like and believe it or not, it is about two or three players in length,” he added.
“We have spoke to the chairman and the budget will be slightly increased next season so that gives us better options.
“With the little bit extra, it gives us the opportunity to speak to one or two players we haven’t been able to speak to in the past for whatever reason.
“Like any team, you would start preparing for next season, but we have to get to the end of this season and not let is fizzle out.
“We have a phenomenal group of players here. There’s no egos or big-timers, everyone is here for the right reasons.
“They are great group to work with.”
