Rick Addy is urging his Yorkshire Amateur players to buckle up and ensure their FA Cup place for next season.
A defeat and a draw in their last two Toolstation NCEL Division One games have delayed confirmation of their top ten finish.
The Ammers, who have had a fantastic season under Phil Harding and Addy, visit Selby Town today and their hosts can close the gap on the Ammers with a win.
Head coach Addy said: “The message is the same message that I have been saying for a few weeks that it is really important that we get in the top ten.
“I am working hard to bring players in and the attraction of the FA Cup does help.
“My message is that we need to keep going and at the moment we don’t seem to have the mentality to keep going.
“I think we need two or three wins for definite and we haven’t got an easy run-in.
“We set a target of getting an FA Cup place and if we don’t get there it would be a disappointment.
“People do keep reminding me of how far we have come this year compared with the last few years.
“To be tenth and in the top ten and at Christmas be pushing for the top five then we have come around.
“We’re tailing off now and some people think the job is done.”
The first team’s performance in the league has been one of a number of positives this season.
The club which has been dragged from the gutter by Harding and Lincoln Richards, has been transformed and the social club renovation is another plus point.
Asked about next season, Addy added: “We have a few pre-season friendlies lined up and there are a few players who I have been in touch with already that I want to come in pre-season.
“I know what I need.”
