Alan Semley will continue at the helm of Goole AFC next season with his assistant Keith Mackie.

Former Nostell Miners Welfare number two Semley was handed the job in January when the club was at crisis point.

The club’s then chairman Baron Bloom had left and manager Curtis Woodhouse resigned when the playing budget was slashed.

Nearly all the players departed so Semley and Mackie had to assemble a side in just three days to ensure Goole fulfilled their Evo Stik Division One South fixtures.

A statement said: “The directors of Goole AFC are delighted to announce that the current management team of Alan Semley and Keith Mackie have agreed to remain in charge for the 2015/16 season.

“Alan and Keith joined the club in early January this year with the club in turmoil, with just 4 players on the books and a fixture to fulfil within three days.

“Since then, through their hard work and dedication the club has taken great strides to ensure its safety within the league and everyone involved are really looking forward to next season.”
