Former Leeds United players came out in force to raise funds for Brendan Ormsby and two charities.
Ormsby suffered a stroke in December 2013 and money raised will go to the Stroke Association, Speakability and Brendan’s care.
The match, between a Leeds X! and a side put together by current Plymouth manager John Sheridan, finished 3-3 in front a huge crowd at Throstle Nest – the home of Farsley AFC.
Famous Leeds players and managers were on the park including Gary Kelly, Simon Grayson, Lee Sharpe and Steve Hodge.
Bradford City boss Phil Parkinson was in Sheridan’s line-up.
Sheridan’s raced ahead and were leading 3-0 until Leeds mounted a comeback.
Dutch striker Clyde Wjinhard, who partnered Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink upfront during the 1998-99 campaign got them back in the game.
Steve Nicholson added the second and then Grayson equalised in the last minute with a tap-in from a Wjinhard cross.
There was further good news in the Ormsby household as Brendan’s son Liam proposed to his girlfriend Marianne Wragg before the game.
In front of the crowd, she fortunately said yes.
i do sincerely hope brendan ormsby is much improved now. i,ve tried to look around on the internet, hoping for some good news, but i,ve found nothing unfortunately.
if you know how he’s doing i would be very grateful if anyone could let me know. one place i usually check, is the leeds united comments forum on the Y.E.P. newspaper online, but there’s been nothing of late and besides, i get the impression, not many people in and on that forum really care. one thing to note is that i actually named my son brendan after him. one other thing, i hope brendan ormsby’s son liam’s marriage is going well, after the pre-match proposal.
ok i,ll thank you in advance for your time and i hope to hear from you soon.
all the best and kind regards.
