Barton Town Old Boys hit-man Scott Phillips has expressed his delight to be staying at the club for next season.
The Toolstation NCEL Premier Division top goal-scorer pledged his future to Dave Anderson’s men this afternoon, despite continued interest from other clubs.
Despite being constantly being linked with moves to bigger sides, notably Tadcaster Albion who made an approach for the 26 year-old last summer, he is confident that Barton can push for silverware.
Phillips told Non-League Yorkshire: “I’m delighted to be staying at the club next season.
“After sitting down with the manager and assistant they outlined what their plans were and I’m really happy they see me as a pivotal point in them.
“Firstly being linked with quality clubs is very flattering but I can see that we have something good here.
“It’s only a matter of time before we start winning trophies and really pushing on and being a part of that is something that excites me massively.”
The Swans are currently 7th in the league, after a poor start and almost a month without football due to postponements, the goal of promotion was out of their grasp.
But Phillips is confident that Dave Anderson’s side are capable of beating their 2nd place finish two seasons ago, in winning the title next year.
H e is eager to continue his prolific record, with 30 goals once again the target.
He said: “I think the goal next season is to win the league.
“It’s a big ask because there’s some really decent sides in it, but after adding a few new faces to what we already have I think where more than capable.
“Also a run in the Vase is something as a club where looking forward to.
“Personally I would like to stay injury free and hit the 30 goal mark again.
“I set myself 25 this season so I’m going to have to add another 5 on for next season after it’s gone so well this year.”
