Handsworth Parramore will play either Tadcaster Albion or Cleethorpes Town in the Toolstation NCEL League Cup final next month.
Handsworth beat Rudy Funk’s AFC Mansfield 2-1 last night at the Forest Town Stadium to book their place in the final which takes place on Bank Holiday Monday at Staveley.
Julian Lawrence headed Handsworth ahead on the stroke of half-time from a corner – minutes after Richard Adams had prevented Mansfield from scoring.
Sam Smith hit the crossbar and the post in separate chances as Parramore cranked up the pressure.
Mansfield had chances themselves, but a penalty in the 81st minute proved to be the difference.
A Kieran Wells’ header was handled and Smith stepped up to score.
Parramore were given a nervy finish as Joe Naylor then pulled a goal back for Mansfield.
The final will be the first chance to win silverware since Parramore and Handsworth formally merged last summer.
