Only a win on Saturday will do for Tadcaster Albion if they want to finish second in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division table.
Tadcaster won 4-2 at Nostell Miners Welfare last night to set up a final day showdown with Worksop Town.
Worksop are in the driving seat to the runners-up spot as they can afford to draw.
Tadcaster did survive a minor scare in their trip to Nostell.
Paul Lines fielded a side mainly full of the club’s under 19s because of Friday’s Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup final date with Frickley Athletic.
One of his older players Ste Wales put Nostell in front, but Tadcaster hit back through George Bissett.
Calum Ward edged Tadcaster in front before Wales scored again for Nostell to level the game up.
Fortunately for Tadcaster, Denny Ingram put them ahead with 15 minutes to go.
Ward then wrapped up the win.
Tadcaster Albion manager Paul Marshall:
“Nostell had a great result at Shaw Lane on Saturday so we weren’t taking them lightly.
“Their number seven (Wales) looks like a really lively player and just before he scored, he ran through and nearly scored.
“He then ran past four players and put it in the top corner. It was a shock, but at least we recovered and got the equaliser straight away.
“At 2-2 you’re thinking how is it 2-2 because we had a enough chances to be out of sight.
“To be fair to Nostell they kept going on, but right on cue we got another goal to make it 3-2.”
