Farsley AFC were beaten 3-2 on penalties by Warrington Town in the Doodson Sports Cup final last night at Edgeley Park.

Aiden Savory missed the final spot kick after the scores finished goal-less after 90 minutes.

Evo Stik Division One North young player of the year Tom Taylor was Farsley’s best player with a string of saves which take the game to the shootout.

It wasn’t the greatest of finals and the game did take time to get going after a quiet first half.

It livened when Taylor had to tip Corrigan’s long range effort over the crossbar early in the second half.

In the space of a few minutes, Taylor had to deny Craig Robinson and then Kinsella.

Farsley had a couple of chances in the final minutes, but both sides held out to the final whistle to force penalties.

Unfortunately, Farsley could not bring back their first piece of silverware since 2011 as Spencer Harris, Andy Welsh and Savory missed from 12 yards.

Farsley captain Rob O’Brien and Adam Priestley scored with their efforts.
