Handsworth Parramore are chasing their first piece of silverware as a merged club tomorrow.

Handsworth are playing Toolstation NCEL Premier Division rivals Cleethorpes Town in the League Cup final at Staveley Miners Welfare.

It is also a chance for Peter Duffield and his team to end the season in perfect fashion after a strong finish.

Handsworth won ten, drew once and lost once during their last 12 fixtures in all competitions. Their only defeat was to higher league Frickley Athletic in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup semi-final.

The final is set to be a cracker as Cleethorpes are also in similar form at the end of a terrific campaign – their first ever in the Premier Division.

Cleethorpes finished the season in fourth place and their attack has earned many plaudits.

Striker Brody Robertson can become the Premier Division’s top goal-scorer if he scores one goal tomorrow. Robertson is currently level with Scott Phillips on 37 goals.

Cleethorpes manager Marcus Newell told Non League Yorkshire: “The club will be over the moon when we walk out.

“They’ll all football mad and myself and the players will be proud when we walk out.

“I was always judging the team on the league so I see the cup as a bonus. But, having said that to be in a cup final during our first season at this level is fantastic and I’m really pleased.

“We’ll enjoy the day and it will be good fun. It would be amazing after finishing fourth to win a cup.

“After the FA Cup run as well, it has been a great season.”

The final kicks off at 3pm and Jane Simms is the referee.

Admission is £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
