Alan Colquhoun has resigned as the manager of Liversedge after one season in charge.

The former Nostell boss replaced new Yorkshire Amateur coach Dave Thompson last summer, but has had a difficult time at the helm.

He had hopes of finishing in mid-table until a disastrous run of form saw them dragged into the relegation battle.

Speaking after his side’s sensational win at champions Shaw Lane in March, Colquhoun said he had been personally hurt by results.

Coluhoun resigned at a meeting last week and took charge of the team for the final time in the defeat at Athersley Rec on the final day of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division season.

A statement said: “Alan has taken on further commitments for the coming year and doesn’t feel he can offer Liversedge the time and full support the position of manager requires.

“Alan started in 1982 playing for Liversedge and went on to play for the first team for a few seasons that followed.

“The Liversedge committee offer Alan and his coach Mark Greaves their heartfelt thanks for their hard work throughout a difficult season and wish them both well in their endeavours.”
