Maltby Main have appointed Spencer Fearn and Mark Askwith as joint managers on a two year contract.
Fearn is no stranger to football having owned East Stirling FC to being vice – chairman of Stockport County. For the past year he has been coaching and working through his coaching badges.
Askwith has been managing locally for ten years since retiring from playing football and has achieved seven promotions in this time.
Both of the Co-Managers have a long association and were schoolboys together at Sheffield United.
In January of this year Fearn joined Askwith at Step 7 club Joker with the club seven points adrift at the bottom of the County Senior League and they put together numerous wins to escape relegation and also reach the final of the County Senior League Cup.
Fearn said: “we are delighted to have this opportunity to work with Wilf Race and the committee at Maltby and are looking forward to getting started.
“We are under no illusions as to how tough this division is and one thing we can promise the Maltby fans is that we will have a team that is fit and works hard for each other.
“We will of course be looking to improve on the league positions of the past couple of seasons and build a team that features some of the best non-league talent in the area.”
Chairman of the club, Wilf Race and his committee are thrilled about the appointment and hope that the club can go on to enjoy success on and off the field during its centenary year which is celebrated next season.
