Hat trick hero Craig Hogg led ten man Bridlington Town’s spectacular comeback in their 4-2 victory over Hull United in the East Riding Senior Cup final.
Bridlington trailed twice in the memorable season ending clash with the Humber Premier League side, who nearly pulled off a shock result at the KC Stadium.
Hull took the front foot initially with Brett Agnew powering his way through the Bridlington defence.
Bridlington responded almost straightaway as Hogg got off the mark with a swerving strike.
Hull still defied their underdog status by going ahead again after the interval as Shane Hill scored with his first touch.
Hogg immediately drew Bridlington back level, heading home bravely before Gary Allanson’s side position was put into jeopardy.
Substitute Danny Smith was dismissed 15 seconds after arriving on the pitch for a poor challenge.
Fortunately that did not affect Bridlington as Hogg completed his hat-trick to put his side in front for the first time in the final.
Tiredness crept into Hull’s legs and Chris Adams used his pace to seal Bridlington’s triumph and round off a solid season.
The victory ends a three-year wait to win the East Riding Cup.
