Farsley Celtic are back after five years

Farsley AFC will be known as Farsley Celtic again after the FA approved their name-change request.

After the club folded in 2010, the FA insisted that the reformed club drop the ‘Celtic’ part which they had since 1908.

Farsley approached the FA in February to change their name back and they finally got approval today.

Josh Greaves, the club’s chief executive, said: “Since the reform of the club as Farsley AFC, the club has continued to move into a great position.

“We find ourselves financially secure and with a great off the field situation in terms of administration and facilities.

“The club have continued to strive for promotion further up the non-league football pyramid throughout this period.

“It is great to be able to call the club Farsley Celtic once again when we are on such a good footing.

“I am proud to be taking over the reins as Chief Executive at the exciting time at the club. I would like to urge supporters old and new to get behind the club as we move forward into this exciting new chapter.”
