Dave Mace has resigned as manager of Worsbrough Bridge
Dave Mace is hoping to get back into football as soon as possible after resigning from his role as manager of Worsbrough Bridge.
Mace has decided to depart as a new chairman is expected to take over at Worsbrough in the next 24 hours from Jonathan Cotterill-Bolsover, who was only appointed in February.
Mace made his decision today.
The Sheffield-based boss leaves Park Road with a lot of credit having steered the club through stormy weather since replacing Chris Hilton last summer after serving two years as his assistant.
He has had to deal with pitch and floodlight issues along with secretary Charlie Wyatt and former chairman John Cooper’s health problems.
Mace told Non League Yorkshire: “I have been here for three years and it has been very enjoyable.
“When I joined Chris we had two great seasons. Obviously Chris left and we lost a lot of players.
“I stayed and I have done my best. It has been difficult because we have had every imaginable problem, but we got through them.
“I feel the time is right to leave, especially with the new chairman coming in.
“I still want to stay in football and I’m looking forward to the next opportunity, wherever that may be.”
Mr Cotterill-Bolsover himself resigned on Monday evening to pave the way for his potential un-named successor – should he be voted in on Wednesday.
In a statement released to the club’s website, Mr Cotterill-Bolsover said: “I have decided to step down as chairman as a new potential chairman has put themselves forward.
“His proposal is significant for the club and will steer the club forward through badly needed investment.
“I am proud of the job I have done in the time I have done it.
“I came to the club in a crisis and I leave a club with direction and purpose with a new junior section, significant grant funding being sought and now with a potential secure financial future.”
