Farsley Celtic midfielder Lewis Nightingale and his family are once again hoping to raise lots of money for Cancer Research UK.
For the past four years, Nightingale has put together a team to face one picked by his two brothers James and Oliver at Rawdon Old Boys FC in West Leeds.
The match is staged in memory of their grandfather Malcolm Green, who passed away in September 2010.
This year’s game takes place on Saturday August 8th at 1pm.
Lewis, 24, said: “Last year was a massive success with us hitting the £3000 mark.
“As a family we worked really hard to reach that amount and we were so pleased and proud to achieve that.
“This year if we could go beyond and aim towards £3500 it would be a fantastic achievement.
“I think the game has previously been successful because it is a day that brings friends and family’s together to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.
“The game is enjoyable and our evening event equally as good and all in aid of Cancer Research.”
The match has seen plenty of well-known Non League footballers lend their support.
Current Accrington Stanley midfielder Josh Windass, son of Dean, has played, as has FC United of Manchester striker Tom Greaves.
As well as players, the village of Rawdon is supportive as over 200 people have watched previous matches.
Lewis added: “The support from the village is massive, without their support the Event wouldn’t be the success it has.
“All close family and friends help out in the organisation and the local business donate prizes.”
I would love to support this event this coming Saturday. What time does it go on to? Best wishes Nicholas Jones, friend and ex neighbour of your dad Robert.
