Adam Nowakowski is the second Harrogate based player to join Darlington 1883 this summer.
The midfielder was without a club after choosing to leave Harrogate Town at the end of the National North season.
He had spent five campaigns with the club after being discovered playing for Harlow Hill in a local league by Simon Weaver.
Nowakowski, who played almost every position for Town, joins his old mate Rob Youhill at the Evo Stik Premier Division new-boys.
Darlington boss Martin Gray said: “He’s a big lad, who can play centre midfield, centre back and centre forward.
“He’s very strong, aggressive and workmanlike, and has played plenty of games two leagues above us. He has a proven track record.”
