Leigh Franks will be the captain of his hometown club Scarborough Athletic in August.
Franks joins Scarborough after leaving Harrogate Town at the end of the Conference North season.
Franks said: “It’s great to join Scarborough Athletic and get to play for my home town team. I want to help the club get to a higher level and that’s what we’ll all be working towards in pre-season and in the games ahead.
“I supported Scarborough FC when they were in the Conference and used to play for the Centre of Excellence when I was a teenager, so I know the recent history of the club and some of the fans from the old club who still support Scarborough Athletic.
“It’s fantastic to be given the captaincy by Bryan and Paul for next season; they have shown their faith in me and I will be aiming to set an example and lead from the front.”
Scarborough have also been boosted by the news that key striker Ryan Blott is staying with the club.
