North West Counties Premier Division side Silsden have secured the signature of last season’s top goal-scorer Craig Nicholls for a second campaign.

Keeping Nicholls was a priority for Silsden joint managers Ryan Haigh and Danny Bolton.

Nicholls arrived at Silsden last summer after being recommended to previous boss Andy Geary by Guiseley striker Danny Forrest who had seen him play for Yeadon Veterans in the Wharfedale Triangle League.

Nicholls scored 16 times and was placed on contract in January because of his performances.

Bolton said: “Ryan and Myself are extremely pleased to secure Craig at the club for another season.

“He showed great potential during the last campaign and his blistering pace was a constant threat to the defences that he came up against.

“I have spoke in great length with Craig about his role within the team and also in the areas where we are looking at him improving so that he can develop further.

“When we knew that Craig wanted to remain at the club we had no hesitation in getting his signature secured and we are looking forward to him developing further and make the next progression in to becoming a forward that will grab 20 goals + in a season.

“He is an important member within the first team and together we are striving at this season being the most successful at this level of football in the history of Silsden AFC.”
