Glasshoughton have made former manager Jon Miles their new chairman

Jon Miles has been appointed as the new chairman of Glasshoughton Welfare.

The announcement comes four weeks since he stepped down as first team boss and a week after Mick Norbury was unveiled as his replacement.

Miles takes over from popular and long-serving chairman Phil Riding, who resigned at the end of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division season because of increased work commitments.

Miles has previously openly admitted he would do anything to help the club as he was brought in a house directly behind the Leeds Road ground and used to watch the team when he was younger.

He also said he felt Glasshoughton could have a bright future if someone put a two-year plan together.

He did concede that the club needed an immediate influx of volunteers, especially a commercial manager.
