Darren Hepworth has started laying down the foundations for AFC Emley’s promotion push.

Eighteen players will be registered on Wednesday when the Toolstation NCEL registration window opens and a further five are expected in the coming weeks.

Michael Tunnacliffe, who was announced as departing skipper Paul Sykes’ replacement, and vice-captain Sam Jerome are two players included in that figure.

Returning to the Welfare Ground are Adam Lawlor, Antony Leech, Ryan Brook, Michael Starkey, Doran Jordan, Max Leonard, Alex Hallam, Jordan Townend, Ruben Jerome, Ashley Flynn, Steven Kenworthy, Sam Scrivens and Joe Egemole.

Jordan Porter, who helped out to cover for Lawlor between the sticks last season, will also be registering.

The new faces at Emley are striker Kieran Ryan and centre-back Tom Brennan.

The pair are from now-defunct West Riding County Amateur Premier Division champions Bay Athletic.
