John Reed is hoping to lead Ossett Town to success in the FA competitions

Ossett Town chief John Reed is hoping for success in the FA Cup and Trophy after the draws were made today.

Ossett will visit Winsford United or AFC Blackpool in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round at the end of August.

Reed has history when it comes to success in the FA competitions having taken Bridlington Town to Wembley in the early 1990s.

He said: “The FA Cup is massive to clubs at our level, a run to the First round can set the club up financially for years to come. Everybody believes this will be our year and I am no different.

“I have taken sides to the first round on three occasions so know what it takes and I believe the squad that we are putting together has the hunger and ability to do it.

“All we need is that little bit of lady luck and it could be here where the BBC are setting up the cameras come November.”

Ossett chairman James Rogers added “Every year the FA Cup is an exciting time for the club, this year will be no different. I’m looking forward to Visiting Winsford United or AFC Blackpool in the Preliminary Round.

In the FA Trophy, Ossett will host FA Cup heroes Warrington Town visitors to the 4G Voice & Data Stadium.

The winners of the Preliminary round tie will then face a home tie with Brighouse Town in the First Qualifying Round.

Ossett’s youth side will face Sheffield FC for the second time in three seasons in the FA Youth Cup Preliminary round.
