New Bradford (Park Avenue) manager Martin Drury expects to make a decision over his trialists very soon.
In both pre-season friendlies – at Selby Town and Yorkshire Amateur – Drury and assistant Jamie Price have fielded two different sides in both halves.
Nearly all of their new signings have featured, but National League North side Avenue have eight trialists currently with him – including Adam Clayton and Nathan Turner.
The trip to Farsley Celtic on Saturday could represent a final chance for some of them.
Drury told Non League Yorkshire: “We have a lot of decisions to make.
“We have six or seven trialists who haven’t got contracts so it is about having a good look at them.
“Farsley Celtic on Saturday will be a much tougher test next week. They will give us a game and it is about having one more look at a few people against better opposition.
“We’re probably going to run on a squad of 18-20 depending on how talks go with players.
“We will be chopping our squad down after Saturday.
“We will have some talks this week with some players to see where they’re heads are at.
“There is definitely a couple I would like to get tied up if we can do, but it will be ongoing over the next ten days.”
West Riding County Cup final hero Chib Chilaka has yet to play in pre-season along with new signing Massiah McDonald.
Drury believes the pair could be involved at Farsley.
“We had Chib out as he has a hamstring strain and we were also protecting Danny Schofield (at Yorkshire Amateur),” he added.
“Massiah McDonald has a bit of a thigh strain so him and Chib have not really trained enough minutes and they’re not really up to the level other players are at the moment.
“They will work hard this week and look to be involved next Saturday.”
