Mark Smitheringale will be assisting Paul Stansfield at Knaresborough Town this season.
Smitheringale’s appointment was confirmed last night shortly after his new side’s 2-1 win over Boroughbridge in the Sadie Rose Challenge Cup game.
The former Stamford midfielder, who played at Wembley in the 1984 FA Vase final, has been scouting for Bradford City since leaving Glasshoughton Welfare in March 2014.
He was former Knaresborough assistant boss Rob Hunter’s number two at Leeds Road.
Previously he has helped Paul Marshall at Harrogate Railway and Tadcaster Albion – alongside a spell as manager of Clitheroe.
At Railway, Smitheringale was Marshall’s assistant when the club reached the second round of the FA Cup in 2002.
