Simon Weaver has confirmed that he wants to officially sign striker Connor Bower at Vanarama National League North side Harrogate Town.
Bower was one of the signings of the Evo Stik Division One North season because of his star performances for Ossett Albion.
He has been training and playing with Harrogate all pre-season and has done enough to persuade Weaver to offer him a deal at the CNG Stadium.
“Connor has every chance of doing well in the game,” Weaver told Non League Yorkshire.
“He has to concentrate on what he does well which is using his pace to get behind defences.
“He is definitely one who can grow in statue, but it is confidence. He needs time with us and I’m sure he will succeed.
“He’s one we want to sign.
“I spoke to (Ossett Albion manager) Richard Tracey about him and he gave glowing reports.
“He was a revelation for them last season.”
Weaver has also confirmed the appointment of well-known former Goole and Sheffield FC striker Vill Powell as a scout.
Powell is the second scout that Harrogate have recruited in recent weeks.
Lee Barraclough, who left his role as manager of top West Yorkshire League side Bardsey at the end of last season after an unprecedented period of success, is the other scout.
Powell was at Weaver’s side during the 3-1 victory at Tadcaster Albion in assistant manager John McDermott’s absence.
Weaver added: “I’ve been big mates with him since I was 16 when I played with Sheffield Wednesday.
“He’s a great lad and very much down to earth.
“He’s a strong friend of mine and he’ll be scouting games and watching players as well helping on the coaching side.”
