Shaw Lane Aquaforce manager Craig Elliott is in no rush to give star signings Gavin Allott and Alex Davidson their debuts.
Both players are yet to feature in Aquaforce’s three pre-season friendlies and are unlikely to do so.
Former Frickley striker Allott is recovering from a hernia problem, while Davidson, signed from Bradford (Park Avenue) is coming back from a knee ligament injury.
Elliott doesn’t expect to see them in a Aquaforce shirt until the opening few games of the new Evo Stik Division One South season.
Elliott said: “Gav has been told to rest.
“He has been training this week and I hope he is ready to start the season.
“We’re trying to nurse him through pre-season as we don’t want to bring him back too early.
“The same goes for Alex. We’re erring on the side of caution and there is no need to rush.”
