Gibril Bojang secured Ossett Albion an impressive 1-0 victory over Guiseley, who make their historic Vanarama National League Premier debut on Saturday.
Albion never really looked troubled by their visitors and they created several good moves before Connor Brunt’s shot was saved by Hall in the Guiseley goal.
The resulting corner was taken by Eddy Birch and met by Gibril Bojang who rose above all the defenders to head the ball wide of the goalkeeper.
Just before half-time Guiseley attacked down the left and Nathan Porritt had chance to cross the ball after Albion defender Declan Dawson slipped. Dickinson chipped a shot over the defenders but it bounced off the cross-bar to safety.
The second half saw Albion create numerous chances but they were unable to extend their lead. Danny South’s downward header bounced up and over the bar and substitutes Rob Bordman and Ben Grech-Brooksbank had shot saved by the goalkeeper.
The game became more open in the final quarter of an hour but still Guiseley were unable to find an equaliser and Albion got a deserved victory.
