Paul Lines wants to build a strong infrastructure at Nostell

Maintaining the momentum from last season and building for the future is the priority for Nostell Miners Welfare manager Paul Lines.

Lines successfully steered Nostell to safety in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division and to the final of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup in a stunning second half to the campaign.

Apart from Jack Fisher and Rob Bordman and a number of new faces, his squad remains the same and Lines is hopeful Nostell can do well when compared with previous seasons.

“For me I want to progress from where we finished last year and I want to finish higher than 15th,” Lines told Non League Yorkshire.

“I have my own goals and targets which I don’t want to say, but realistically if we don’t finish at least mid-table I’ll be disappointed.

“With the squad we are building then I don’t see any reason why we can’t finish mid-table.

“I think it might be even tougher than last year because there are some big-hitters in the league and we have to cope with that.”

Alongside his management of the first team, the introduction of an under 16s team is the first part of a plan to revolutionise the Crofton-based club.

Lines added: “We’re working on the under 16s which we’ve just set up.

“There is some good young lads in there and it is about stabilising the club and bringing young players in for the future of Nostell.

“It is not just about the first team and staying in the league, it is about the infrastructure that we are building for the next four or five years.

“The future of the club is good in my opinion.”
