New Eccleshill United manager Mark Greaves is “under no pressure” to succeed this season

Mark Greaves is under “no pressure” to succeed at Eccleshill United this season.

The new era for the Toolstation NCEL Division One side properly begins tomorrow when Greaves leads his side into battle for the first time with a home game against Westella VIP at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

Eccleshill are starting from scratch following the end of the RIASA partnership which meant their team was mainly built around American students.

Greaves only inherited two players and he claims the club’s committee is being patience with him.

“I’ve not been at this level for a few years, but I know it is a tough league,” he said.

“The play-offs gives it fresh impetus and makes it more exciting.

“You at Hull United who have come into it, they’re going to be strong like the teams who finished in the top ten last season like the Shirebrooks, your Hemsworths.

“The list goes on and it is going to be a very competitive league and all we can do is bring players in and hopefully be competitive.

“The committee have said they understand the situation. There is no pressure from them, they just don’t want to get relegated.

“They’re not saying we have to do this and that, they understand that we are starting from scratch and it may take two or three years to build a squad.

“It is a season of transition for us and hopefully we can be a mid-table side.”
