Finishing higher than 14th is the main priority for Graham Nicholas and Garforth Town.
The Miners have ended the last two seasons in 14th in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division so Nicholas is determined to improve on that.
He said: “Realistically as a club, they want to finish in the top ten and that’s the aim this season.
“We’ll certainly play with the intention of winning every game and we’ll see where it takes us.
“I think we have got it right this year because we have good solid defenders at the back.
“We have the energy and youth in the midfield and then we have got arguably three or four strikers that are prolific.
“For me we have got to finish in the top ten and I would love to win some silverware.”
Nicholas has been busy in the transfer market as alongside keeping most of last season’s team, he has recruited a fair share.
He has retained his policy of signing young players and he has explained why: “It is difficult when there is not a reserve team and there are players in the West Yorkshire League that are apparently getting paid more.
“As a club you say where do you get your players from?
“You have to put your faith in young players like Ash Preece and Danny Harris and others, who have matured with the experience under their belts.
“Players like them will grow stronger and I believe we can have a good year.”
The Miners welcome Rainworth to Wheatley Park tomorrow.
