Handsworth Parramore’s title challenge began in the best possible manner with the 3-0 victory over Pickering Town.
Parramore enjoyed a dream start as they were two goals in front inside the opening 15 minutes which gave Pickering a mountain too high to climb.
A sprint down the left-wing by Danny Buttle set the scene for the first goal. He crossed and popular striker Kieran Wells was on hand to score with a bullet header.
Those watching on at Sandy Lane on the opening day of Toolstation NCEL Premier Division campaign then watched on as star signing Jon Froggatt produced a thunderous strike and found the top corner for the second goal.
Pickering, managed by Paul Marshall for the first time, came into the game and for a long period it was an even affair.
The bad start ultimately gave them too much to do and Handsworth sealed the points late-on. Froggatt was involved again, but he was denied by Arran Reid. The ball ran loose and Wells reacted the quickest to score and round off a perfect day for Parramore.
