Tadcaster Albion’s strength in depth is what pleases manager Billy Miller the most.

Tadcaster are preparing to host Parkgate in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division tomorrow night following Saturday’s 6-3 hammering of Maltby Main.

Miller, who admits there may be some changes, has a lot of players on the books, but insists everyone will get a chance to take part.

“We have the ability to rotate players so we’re not asking the same players to play every single game,” he said.

“You look at the bench on Saturday, we had Tom Claisse, Danny Stimpson, George Conway, George Bissett and Josh Barrett. We also have David Brown, who was not involved.

“We have a phenomenal squad of players and we have to utilise them to get the best out of them.

“On Saturday there were eight players not involved and all eight could easily get in other teams.

“The squad size and the amount of quality we have is fantastic.

“We have an unbelievable bunch of players that are honest and hard-working.”

Miller did lose two players 24 hours before the first round of fixtures as Pete Lawrie and Calum Ward left for Paul Marshall’s Pickering Town.

He said: “I spoke to Calum and Pete and I respect their decision.

“It must have been a really difficult one for them as they had been here a long time.

“They won’t being forced, they had just been told that they weren’t in the plans for the Maltby game.

“That could have changed for tomorrow night, but they said they wanted first team football and I’m Marshy can give them that.”

The Brewers boss is uncornerned by his side’s defending in the second half of the visit of Maltby.

The Rotherham-based side scored three times and caused them numerous problems.

He added: “We need to make sure the transitional period between attack and defence is right and balances right and it is something we will work on.

“It is something that I have been working to get right since I came to the club.

“Against Parkgate we need to defend better, but it was a warm day on Saturday and I think it took a lot out of the players.

“We did look the fitter team by far, but I think because of the heat we lost our way a bit at times.

“It is not a cause for concern in any shape or form.”
