Paul Quinn wants Brighouse Town to improve on last season

Paul Quinn is refusing to let Brighouse Town stand still as his side prepare to embark on their second season in the Evo Stik Division One North.

Brighouse coped extremely during their first ever campaign in the league last season, finishing 14th with ease.

A trip to Trafford awaits Brighouse on the opening weekend and Quinn is confident his side can build on their achievements from last season.

“We have to improve on last year and that’s the bottom line and we’re stressing that to the players,” Quinn told Non League Yorkshire.

“I thought we had a good stabilising in our first year at this level and I thought we acquitted ourselves really well.

“With the additions we have made, we are capable of improving on last year.

“That’s the objective and where that takes us, we’ll see.

“I am not a manager and we are not a club that wants to settle for mediocrity, we want to push on and push the club forward again.

“We know it is going to be another challenging year, but with the work we have done and the signings we have made we are confident we can improve.”

“The league hasn’t got any easier and you look at Glossop who have come into the league, I would imagine they will be a strong side.

“I would imagine that some teams will be going hard at it now in terms of getting out of the league like Spennymoor, Scarborough, Bamber Bridge.

“The aim last year was to establish ourselves and we want to be recognised as one of the best Non League sides around here.

“We’re still in the early stages of a long term plan in terms of where we want to get to.”
