Leading Nostell Miners Welfare through a few rounds of the Emirates FA Cup would be a dream come true for Paul Lines.

But first, Nostell have to negotiate their way through a tricky Extra Preliminary Round clash at North West Counties side Congleton Town.

Lines told Non League Yorkshire: “It is a massive game because of the financial incentives.

“We want to go there and earn some money for the club as well getting the prestige of getting to the next round.

“I’d love to have a good run in the FA Cup, just for the prestige and the financial benefits for the club.

“Everybody watched the FA Cup as a kid and everyone dreams of doing well in it. I would love to get to the First Round proper and play a Football League team.

“My memories of the FA Cup when I was younger is teams such as Blyth Spartans and others doing well and playing big teams.

“Harrogate Railway also had a couple of good runs so to do something like would be massive for the club.”

Despite Tuesday night’s 3-0 defeat at Barton Town Old Boys, Nostell are still in confident mood because of the sensational Toolstation NCEL Premier Division opening day victory at Cleethorpes Town.

Lines added: “The shape was a little disjointed on Tuesday night whereas at Cleethorpes it was right.

“But, I’m happy because with two away games like that you would have taken a point from both of them.

“We’re one in front as far as I’m concerned which is good considering that there are a lot of players out injured at the moment.

“John Douglas is out with a broken arm and Dale Kelly has broken his hand and they are two key players.

“Dave Bordman is the third key player who is out. He has a knee problem.”
