Craig Elliott admits Shaw Lane Aquaforce are stepping into the unknown when they make their Evo Stik Division One South debut tomorrow.
Not that Elliott is bothered as the situation has parallels with their famous run to the FA Vase quarter-finals last season.
The Toolstation NCEL Premier Division champions are heading to Tividale for the opening day clash with high expectations once again.
“I think it is difficult to judge the aims as you go into every season wanting to be there or there abouts, especially at a club like Shaw Lane,” he said.
“But it is difficult because we don’t know the league.
“With modern day media you see who is signing who and hear different rumours.
“That’s going to be the hardest thing, knowing who are the big hitters around us.
“We’re hoping to do well, in cups and leagues.
“The key is and it might help is if we just concentrate on ourselves and that’s what I’m going to do.
“You can’t worry about other teams too much and you have to concentrate on yourselves.
“We had to do the same in the Vase because there were teams we didn’t know too much about.
“We have to get our own house in order and see where it takes us.”
