Lee Ashforth is not setting Harrogate Railway any ambitious targets ahead of the new Evo Stik Division One North season.
Ashforth takes of charge of his first competitive game as Railway boss and faces a difficult start when Droylsden visit Station View.
Since replacing Billy Miller, Ashforth has had to rebuild his squad because numerous departures so there is no talk of trying to emulate last season’s record eighth-place finish.
“To be honest, at the moment I have to keep Harrogate Railway in the Division,” said Ashforth, when asked about his club’s aims.
“There is no pressure for anyone and realistically everyone knows we are not going to do as well as last year unless we really have a good run.
“I think we have a good enough squad to keep us up and that’s what we have to be looking at.
“The league is going to be tough again, if not tougher.
“You look at it and everyone has said we have a really hard start to the season with Droylsden, Spennymoor, Brighouse and Scarborough.
“I’d looked at it and thought ‘is there an easy fixture to have’?
“At the end of the day we have a home game first and that’s what I wanted.”
