New signings Sebastian Malkowski and Simon Lenighan were unable Frickley Athletic to a perfect start as Matlock Town scored in the last minute to win 2-1 at Westfield Lane.

It was a heart-breaking finish for Karl Rose’s men, who had taken a 77th minute lead through Jameel Ible on the opening day of the Evo Stik Premier Division season.

However, Michael Harcourt equalised in the closing stages and then Joel Purkiss added the winner.

Goole, Stocksbridge Park Steels and Shaw Lane Aquaforce got off to excellent starts in the Division One South.

Former Louth Town striker Jamie Coulson ensured a 2-1 victory for Goole at Kidsgrove.

There was a dramatic finish at Tividale where Shaw Lane were losing 1-0 in the 88th minute until Lee Bennett levelled matters and then Adam Priestley netted the winner.

Liam McFadyen, Corey Gregory and Danny Critchlow scored as Stocksbridge beat Market Drayton 3-2.

Only Scarborough Athletic, Harrogate Railway and Brighouse Town could say they were happy with their opening day results in Division One North.

Scarborough comfortably won 3-0 at New Mills, while Railway credibly drew 1-1 with Droylsden and Brighouse held Trafford to a 2-2 stalemate.

Farsley Celtic conceded after 15 seconds and went onto lose 3-0 to Kendal.

Ossett Town were beaten 4-0 at home to Northwich Victoria and Ossett Albion lost 1-0 at Witton Albion.

Look out for reports on Sunday morning from some of these matches, alongside reports from the FA Cup matches.
